Years 6 & 7 Education Program

The I am Changing program aims to improve health and hygiene education in the community and was developed by teachers in conjunction with health specialists and respected independent sexuality educators, Family Life & Interrelate.

The curriculum aligns with state and territory guidelines (please see the Curriculum Focus for more detail) and materials are free to download for use in schools.

The Year 6 curriculum describes the physical changes likely to occur during puberty, whilst the Year 7 curriculum focuses on physical changes, sexuality, social changes, risk taking behaviour and management. To help schools comply with their own guidelines, lessons can be selected individually or be used as a complete unit.

Family Life & Interrelate provide specialist services in sexuality education and sexual health and relationships. Family Life Victoria and Interrelate Family Centres NSW also offer school programs, parent information sessions, in-school speaker programs and professional development programs for teachers.
